Every June since 2008, people from across the UK have celebrated Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month. Through celebration, education and raising awareness, GRT History Month helps to tackle prejudice, challenge myths and to amplify the voices of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers in wider society.
This year, we want to make GRT History month in Bristol something special. As an inclusive city that recognizes and values the different communities that make our city great, June allows us an opportunity to provide a focus on one of our less well heard audiences and recognize what they have done over the last 1000 years to help shape the community that we now know today.
If your school are able to put on an assembly, focus some tutor time or even run a lesson around Gypsy Roma Travellers, we can support you in preparing for GRT History month.
